An unusual case of extensive truncal Cutaneous larva migrans from remote area in an Indonesian adult male: A case report

Cutaneous larva migrans (CLM) is a skin disorder in the form of serpiginous spreading with erythematous and papule as reaction to invasion hookworm. Apart from infection symptoms, helminthic infections tend most frequently involve respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological, eye. We report case 21-year-old male who came papules linear tracks entire body that felt itchy, especially on abdomen at back. On physical examination, there were papules, patterns, excoriations, erosions. The patient was diagnosed extensive CLM. treated oral Albendazole 400 mg once daily for 3 days, Cetirizine 10 reduce itch, Cefixime 200 twice days. At end follow-up, all lesions had resolved, no other symptoms appeared. Extensive cases CLM are noteworthy presence Loeffler syndrome superinfection. In remote areas, sometimes, availability drugs limited. Therapy using Mebendazole only gives 70% resolution lesion compared Albendazole. Combination therapy Albendazole, antihistamines, antibiotics gave satisfactory results.
